Privacy
Timeproof Games keeps things simple: no accounts, no cookies, and no personal data unless you choose to subscribe to the weekly digest.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the weekly digest, your email address is stored by Buttondown, the service that sends it. You will receive a confirmation email first, and nothing is sent until you confirm. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address from the list. If you reply to an issue, Buttondown stores your message so it can reach us. The address is used only to send the digest, and it is never shared or sold.
Analytics
The site uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service that sets no cookies and collects no personal data. It records page views, referrers and anonymous interaction events (such as which store a deal card points to), so there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Stored on your device
A few things are remembered by your browser so the site behaves the way you left it. They are kept in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, they never leave your device and nothing in them identifies you: whether you chose the light or the dark theme, the filters you last used on the deals page, whether you follow any game for its sale notifications and how many (so the header can show the way back to the list, and the list's placeholder is the right length), and a count of your visits so the newsletter prompt is not shown to a first-time reader, is not shown again for a month once you close it, and is never shown again once you subscribe, tell it you already have, or open the site from one of the emails. Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it.
Notifications
If you ask to be notified when a game is on sale, when a store starts a big sale, or of each day's pick, your browser gives the site an address that its own push service delivers to. That address, the games you follow, the price you asked to wait for if you set one, the platforms you picked if you narrowed them, whether you asked to be told when a store starts a big sale or sent the day's pick, the discount and price each game had when you followed it (so you are not told about the sale you were already looking at), and which of their sales you have already been told about are all that is stored. None of it holds your name, your email or anything about you beyond the games, although the address is specific to this browser and its push service, and it is used only to send those notifications. Stopping the notification for the last game you follow while the big-sale and daily pick notifications are off, turning the last of those two off while you follow no game, or stopping them all from the list of games you follow, deletes all of it from the site; the backup copies kept for safety, the last three, lose it within three backups. If you turn notifications off in your browser's settings instead, it is deleted the next time the site tries to send you a notification and finds it can no longer be delivered.
Affiliate links
Links to partner stores (GOG, Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, ININ Games) are affiliate links: if you buy something after clicking one, Timeproof Games may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links go through this site first and then to the store, which lets the store attribute the sale. What happens on the store's own site is covered by that store's privacy policy.
As an Amazon Associate, Timeproof Games earns from qualifying purchases. The Amazon search on a game page is an affiliate link too.
