Up to one hundred players parachute onto an island, search for weapons and fight until one is left standing, in this 2017 battle royale game from Krafton, inspired by the film Battle Royale. It was made under the creative direction of Brendan Greene, known as PlayerUnknown, based on his mods, and it can be played from a third or first person view. It started in Steam early access in March 2017, and it has been free to play on all platforms since 2022. It is credited with popularizing the battle royale genre. Downed players are not eliminated at once, and teammates can revive them at the cost of being exposed, while crates drop powerful weapons and armor. A shrinking circle still turns every match into a race to the last position.
