A crash landed bush pilot and a doctor have to survive the frigid Canadian wilderness after a geomagnetic storm, in this 2017 first person survival game from Hinterland. You have to manage body temperature, calories, hunger, weight and fatigue, and there are no zombies, only you, the cold and all the threats of nature. The game has three modes: a story mode, a free form survival mode where dying deletes your save, and a challenge mode. The map is divided into 12 main regions, such as Mystery Lake, Coastal Highway and Desolation Point, joined by smaller transition regions. It was funded through Kickstarter and was available in an alpha version for years before its full release. A calm, quiet game about cold and hunger still gives each decision weight.
