Is it still worth playing?
In this 1991 action role playing game for the Game Boy, a hero and a heroine try to stop the Dark Lord of Glaive and his sorcerer assistant Julius from destroying the Tree of Mana. The world is seen from above and divided into screens, with towns where you gather information and buy or sell items, and enemies in the field that give experience, money and items. Dungeons hold puzzles you have to solve to advance, and weapons also cut through obstacles such as trees and thorns. Gaining levels raises stats such as hit points, power and stamina, and magic spells use magic points. You can save at any point. Chocobos, airships and crystals give it its Final Fantasy name. It began the Mana series, and Secret of Mana drew heavily on it. Fighting, shopping and solving dungeon puzzles, with a save at any point, still make a compact adventure.
