Is it still worth playing?

In 1924 Louisiana, you play Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, trapped in the haunted mansion of Derceto after the painter Jeremy Hartwood is found dead, in this 1992 horror game for MS-DOS. The characters are 3D, moving over pre rendered rooms seen from fixed camera angles, and they move with tank controls. Actions come from a menu with commands such as search, fight and push. Ammunition is scarce, with six shells, twelve bullets and three arrows in the whole game, and a weight based inventory limits what you carry. Some enemies can only be beaten by solving a puzzle, some cannot be killed and have to be avoided, and moving furniture is one way to get past them. Most of the story is in books and letters, and it draws on Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. With ammunition this scarce, outwitting the monsters is the way through, which still keeps the mansion tense.
