Is it still worth playing?

Panzer General's hexes are taken into a high fantasy world. It is a 1996 wargame for MS-DOS, with the Shadowlord and his generals holding four continents and you fighting for Good or Evil across them in turn based battles. The units are squads, most of fifteen soldiers, where Panzer General's were battalions, in four kinds, mortal, magical, beast and mechanical, split into ten classes, and the campaign researches each class up through grades from zero to five. It is single player but supports play by email, where you take your turn, save the results and send the file to your opponent. GOG gave it away free in 2017, and a second game came in 2019. The grades still mean the squads are researched as well as recruited, one continent at a time.
