Is it still worth playing?

Sonic and Tails ally with their past selves and travel through levels from earlier Sonic games, in this 2011 platform game from Sonic Team made for the series' 20th anniversary. There are two gameplay styles. The younger Sonic runs through 3D stages with a boost and lane switching, while the older one runs in side scrolling stages with the physics of the Mega Drive games. Each stage has an act for each of them, across three eras: the Mega Drive, the Dreamcast and the modern one. A minimalist hub called White Space lets you switch between the two and reach the zones. Finishing three stages of an era unlocks challenge zones that change the rules, and hidden red coins and online leaderboards give a reason to replay. Rival battles chase Metal Sonic, Shadow and Silver. Two ways of running through the same zone still make each act a different game.
