In 2084 social collapse and civil unrest reign in Mega Primus, a city built over Toronto, and aliens swarm through Dimensional Gateways. It is a 1997 strategy game for DOS, the third X-COM, set fifty years after the second. Fourteen kinds of alien come through portals shaped like tetrahedrons, and X-COM fights them inside a city with a politics of its own: corporations and factions to keep on side, and money from selling the alien artifacts you bring back. The fights can be fought turn based as before or in real time, the first time the series allowed it. Julian Gollop called the making of it a disaster area in which everything that could go wrong did. OpenApoc, an open source remake, reached alpha in 2018. The city is still ground you defend that has landlords, and they have opinions.
