Is it still worth playing?

A fighting game from SNK for the Neo Geo Pocket Color in 1999, the sequel to King of Fighters R-1, with the story of The King of Fighters 98 and Rugal Bernstein making clones. It uses two buttons, with a tap for a light attack and a hold for a strong one, and has two super meters: one that fills as you give and take hits, and one you charge by hand for a temporary boost that suits beginners. You can fight as a team of three or a single fighter, with 14 characters at first. Making mode lets you take one character through a series of battles and unlock over 200 skills at random. Versus originally used a link cable, and the Switch version imitates it with a split screen character select. It has no in game move list. Short fights and a mode for building your own fighter still give a portable game plenty to try.
