About this game

Black Isle's 1999 role playing game, on the same engine as Baldur's Gate and pointed almost the other way. There are around eight hundred thousand words in it, and most of what you do is read and answer rather than fight, with a great many encounters avoidable through talking or stealth. You are the Nameless One, who cannot die: running out of health moves you somewhere else and costs you nothing else. Intelligence and Wisdom are dialogue statistics here, so a slow character is offered different lines from a sharp one. It is set in Sigil, a city at the centre of everything and threaded with doors to every other world, and five of the seven possible companions travel with you. Because dying costs you nothing, you spend the game walking into things to see what happens rather than avoiding them.
