About this game
Square's 2000 PlayStation game, which turns the series back towards castles and airships after Final Fantasy VII and VIII had gone somewhere more modern. Eight playable characters, each built on one of the old jobs, so Vivi is the black mage and Steiner is the knight and neither will ever be anything else. Abilities come off the equipment. Wear a weapon long enough, spend the ability points, and the skill stays with you after the weapon is gone. Four fight at a time, and enough damage puts a character into Trance, where Vivi casts two spells at once instead of one. Pressing select in a new town opens an Active Time Event, a short optional scene happening somewhere you are not. A new sword is a list of things a character might learn rather than a bigger number.
