Is it still worth playing?
Julius Caesar's campaigns in Gaul and Britain, Crassus's battles in Parthia and the civil war are the setting for this 2003 real-time tactics game by Pyro Studios, published by Eidos Interactive. Unlike most real-time strategy titles it focuses on military tactics rather than building or resource management. Units are trained from a garrison built in a town or village. You play the Roman Republic, the Egyptians or a barbarian tribe, and each has its own unit pool with different strengths, abilities and weaknesses. Learning to combine units and exploit what the enemy lacks is the heart of it, until you face the Praetorian Guard itself. Because tactics matter more than economy, formations decide the battles.
