Six characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big and Gamma, each play their own story about the Chaos Emeralds, in this 1998 platformer for the Dreamcast. Robotnik is trying to unleash an ancient evil called Chaos. It was the first main Sonic game in 3D. Each of the six characters has their own abilities and action stages: Sonic has simple 3D platforming, Knuckles hunts for items and Big fishes. Rings serve as health, and power ups from earlier Sonic games return. Between the action stages you explore areas to move the story forward. There are minigames such as racing, and a virtual pet called Chao that you can look after. Six characters that each play differently give the one game several ways to play today.
