Is it still worth playing?

A 2006 remake of The Settlers II for Windows, about Romans who set out to sea after a losing battle with drought and the disappearance of their women. Shipwrecked, they look for a way home through portals, land by land, meeting Nubians and Chinese in the same fix, with Vikings and a new campaign of twelve missions in the expansion. It keeps the 1996 game's indirect control: the settlement is commanded and not the settlers, with buildings placed, roads laid with flags as the hubs of the carrying, mines, farms and fisheries, an economy of chains to keep fed, and an army raised and sent. The remake renovated rather than reinvented, with 3D, online play and upgrades for the buildings, and it has been on GOG since 2013. Roads and their flags are still the whole economy, and placing one well is the game.
