Did you know?

It began in 1984 as a Dragon Ball game, and when the licence fell through the team was told to start over with ideas of its own. Kotaro Hayashida, who designed it, says Goku's power pole became Alex Kidd's punch.

Is it still worth playing?

Janken the Great has beaten a king and kidnapped a prince and a princess, and a young martial artist named Alex sets out to rescue them in this 1986 platform game for the Master System. Across 17 stages, in both scrolling and single screen settings, he punches enemies and breaks rocks to open new paths and reach money. The money buys vehicles such as a motorbike and a helicopter. At the end of many stages he plays jan-ken-pon, rock paper scissors, against one of Janken's henchmen. A single hit costs him his life, and so does losing a round. There is no save system, but a hidden continue restarts a level with three new lives for 400 Baums, the in game money. Its 17 stages still alternate between scrolling and single screen play, with puzzles and bought vehicles in between.
