Is it still worth playing?
Sylvester Bucelli, called Sly Boots, is a former detective fallen into disgrace on Anachronox, a planet by the galaxy's hub of jumpgates. He looks for a job to pay a debt to a local crime boss, Detta, and ends up gathering a team for a mystery that threatens the universe. This 2001 role playing game for Windows, designed by Tom Hall, mixes cyberpunk and film noir, and mixes Western and Eastern design too. The world is walked in real time on a heavily rewritten Quake II engine, and the fights are turn based with a party of three on Active Time Battle meters that set the order. Its development took four years. The team is still a private eye's odd friends, with a jump to a new planet between fights.
