Is it still worth playing?
You take one of eight rulers fighting for the land of Legendra, each with generals who lead up to 100 soldiers, in this 1996 strategy role-playing game for the Sega Saturn. Armies travel along fixed routes on an overhead map, and when two meet, you choose to attack, talk or retreat. Each side picks a general and a formation, and the enemy always chooses first, so you can pick a counter. Up to 200 soldiers fight on screen in real time, and unit types and formations decide the outcome, unlike in tile based tactics games. The world map also runs in real time, but pauses whenever you open a menu. A general who runs out of hit points may be captured, injured or, rarely, killed, and losing your ruler ends the game. Working Designs translated it for the West. Fighting by formation and not by tile makes each battle feel like a large army clash.
