Is it still worth playing?
An adventure strategy game based on Frank Herbert's novel, developed by Cryo Interactive and published by Virgin Interactive in 1992 for DOS, the Amiga and the Sega CD. You play Paul Atreides as House Atreides takes over the desert planet Arrakis, and the goal is to drive out House Harkonnen while mining the valuable spice and winning over the native Fremen. It has two layers in real time: a first person adventure for exploring the palace, the sietches and the desert, and a top down map for managing spice mining and training soldiers. Paul travels by ornithopter or sandworm to find new sietches, and his psychic powers let him call the Fremen over long distances and cut travel times. Each Fremen tribe can be assigned to mine, fight or work on the ecology, and soldiers can be armed from knives up to atomics. A planet to manage and a story to follow still make it an unusual game to explore.
