Is it still worth playing?
A slugcat, half slug and half cat, hunts for its lost family through a drowned industrial ruin where wild vegetation grows from mysterious structures and skyscraper skeletons scratch a grey sky. It is a 2017 game for PlayStation 4 and Windows, on the Switch in 2018 and the other consoles in 2023. You scavenge for food, dodge predators with whatever debris comes to hand and have to reach a shelter before the rain, which kills. The creatures are the thing: animated procedurally, they wander on their own, hunt each other and do not wait for you. Joar Jakobsson and James Therrien began it in 2011 and funded it on Kickstarter in 2014. The ecosystem still goes on eating itself whether you are there or not.
