The McCall brothers desert the Civil War army to save their family home and go on the run, then chase the legendary Gold of Juarez, in this 2009 Western first person shooter from Techland. It is the second game in the Call of Juarez series, and a prequel to the first. You choose to play Ray or Thomas, who have different styles, one at close range and one from a distance, with abilities such as a lasso and dynamite. Accurate shots build your concentration, which unlocks shooting modes for when you are outnumbered, and the brothers can team up for stronger ones. You travel on foot, horseback, in wagons and canoes through landscapes of the Old West. Techland removed the stealth and platforming of the first game. The script touches on the effects of the Civil War, Mexican banditry and racism. Two brothers who play differently still give each shootout a choice.
