Is it still worth playing?
You pick one of four cabbies and drive passengers to their destinations as fast as you can before the clock runs out, in this 1999 arcade racing game that reached the Dreamcast in 2000. A marker above each passenger shows the distance of the trip, from red for short to green for long, and a green arrow points toward the destination. Picking someone up adds time, and stunts such as drifts, jumps and near misses add bonus money. The city is a West Coast one modeled on San Francisco's hills, with real chains such as Pizza Hut and Burger King. The soundtrack features the Offspring and Bad Religion. The Dreamcast version adds an original level and uses the triggers for accelerating and braking, plus a Crazy Box mode that teaches the moves. A simple score chase that takes seconds to learn still suits a quick session.
