Claire Redfield looks for her brother Chris while surviving an outbreak on a remote prison island, in this survival horror game for the Dreamcast from 2000. It was updated as Code: Veronica X the next year. It is set three months after Resident Evil 2, and the story later moves to a research facility in Antarctica. It was the first Resident Evil game on a platform other than the PlayStation. It keeps the series' controls, interface, puzzles and zombies, but uses real time 3D environments in place of pre rendered backgrounds, so the camera moves more. The settings are gothic. The updated version added cutscenes with more of the story. Tank controls remain, and ammunition and health are sparse and saves limited. Sparse ammunition and limited saves still make each room a risk to enter.
