Neku Sakuraba wakes up in Shibuya with no memory and is forced into a Reapers' Game with his allies that will decide their fate, in this 2007 action role playing game for the Nintendo DS. The game sets a challenge to complete each day. Neku fights on the touch screen with the stylus, slashing, swiping, tapping and circling to activate pins, which give attacks, defense or healing in any combination you choose. His partner fights on the top screen, controlled with the D pad, or automatically. Tapping a Noise icon starts a battle, and chaining several raises the rewards and the difficulty. Clothes and pins change his stats, and each area has its own popular brands. The music runs from J pop to rock and electronica. Short chapters and a combat system that uses both screens still fit a handheld.
